How to Play Water Sort Star: Rules and First Steps

The four rules of Water Sort Star, what the first levels teach you, and the settings worth knowing about, from colour-blind symbols to playing fully offline.

The four rules

Tap a tube to pick it up, then tap the tube you want to pour into. You can only pour onto the same colour, or into an empty tube.

A tube only takes what fits. If the target has room for one layer, one layer moves and the rest stays where it was.

You win when every tube holds a single colour, or is empty.

What the first levels are teaching you

The early boards are small on purpose. They show you that order matters: pouring the wrong colour first can block the tube you needed, and an empty tube is the most useful thing on the board.

As you go on, levels add more colours, more tubes and mystery layers marked "?", which stay hidden until the colour above them is poured away. HARD and SUPER HARD boards are labelled, and each one is followed by a relaxing level.

Settings worth knowing

Colour-blind mode gives every colour its own symbol, so you never have to tell two shades apart.

There is no timer, no lives and no energy, and the whole game plays offline with no account. Undo, hints and an extra tube are there when you are stuck, and restarting a level is always free.
